Online Occupational Health Needs Assessment

Use this free online occupational health needs assessment to build a first view of the health risks in your organisation and the types of support you may need. It takes you through a series of structured questions about your people, roles, locations and hazards, then produces a simple, role‑based summary you can download or discuss with us.

How the online assessment works

Step 1: Tell us about your organisation

You enter basic details about your sector, headcount, locations, main roles and working patterns (for example, shift work, lone working, remote work). This helps the tool group your workforce into logical “risk groups”.

Step 2: Describe your key hazards

You answer a set of tick‑box and short questions about common workplace hazards – such as noise, dust and fumes, chemicals, vibration, manual handling, safety‑critical tasks and psychosocial or stress‑related risks.

Step 3: Add any current health activity

You can optionally tell us what occupational health activity you already have in place (for example, existing health surveillance, medicals or wellbeing programmes). This helps the tool highlight potential gaps or areas of overlap.

Step 4: Get your summary and next steps

At the end, the tool provides a clear summary tailored to your answers. It highlights the main risk groups in your workforce, the types of occupational health support that may be appropriate for each, and key points you may want to review with your health and safety team or discuss with us as a next step.

What the online assessment is – and isn’t

The online assessment is designed to:

  • Help you make sense of your occupational health needs in a structured, easy‑to‑follow way

  • Provide a starting point for planning or reviewing your occupational health provision

  • Support conversations between HR, health and safety, and senior leaders about priorities and budgetsclarityoh+1

It is not a formal legal opinion or a replacement for detailed risk assessments or professional advice. Where risks are complex or high‑risk, we may recommend a fuller, consultant‑led needs assessment and/or specialist input

When to use the online tool

The free online assessment is particularly useful when:

  • You’re setting up occupational health provision for the first time

  • Your organisation has grown or changed and you want to check whether your current services still fit

  • You’re planning a tender or contract renewal and want a clearer view of what to ask for

  • You need a simple, visual way to explain potential occupational health needs to senior leader

If you already have a complex, multi‑site operation or highly specialised risks, you may wish to use the online assessment as a starting point and then follow up with a detailed, consultant‑led needs assessment.

Next steps after completing the online assessment

Once you’ve completed the online assessment, you can:

  • Keep the summary for your own planning and internal discussions

  • Share it with your health and safety team, HR and senior leaders

  • Request a follow‑up conversation with Clarity to check your thinking and, if helpful, turn the results into a practical occupational health plan
